Ramsey-Daughery Company, Inc.
History

You don't get to be one of the south's most reputable custom home builders by not having a notable history. The Ramsey-Daugherty legacy starts in the 1940's, where Jay and Larry Ramsey's Grandfather, P.M. Chaffin, started his own building company. John Ramsey and Robert H. "Nick" Daugherty, who married Mr. Chaffin's daughters, joined him in his business in the 1940's. The sons-in-law ventured out on their own in 1950, forming a partnership building speculative homes, then switching exclusively to custom homes.

Jay Ramsey was teaching mathematics in 1977 when he left to join his father in the family business. Larry followed in 1984. Robert Daugherty passed away in 1992, but John Ramsey still assumes an active full-time role, along with his sons, in the company.
